The Lantern Cage is a table for the dining room that wants a centrepiece in every cover. The top is a warm white sintered stone laced with rust-brown and bronze veins, the kind of pattern that looks like crackled glaze, finished with a thin satin bronze band around the edge.
Beneath it, a ring of slim oval bronze loops stands around a central core and lands on a round bronze disc. The loops are open, so the base casts a patterned shadow on the floor and never reads as a solid block. Because the weight sits on a wide disc, the table stays steady without a pedestal that is heavy to look at.
Construction
- Sintered-stone top, warm white with rust and bronze veining
- Thin satin bronze metal edge band
- Open cage base of oval bronze-finish loops on a round disc
- Floor glides for levelling on uneven stone or tile
Put it in a hotel's all-day dining room, a breakfast hall or a tea lounge where the tables are seen from the entrance. At 29½ in (75 cm) it works with standard dining chairs and banquettes.
