This chair fits an all-day dining room. The inner shell, from the seat up through the back and arms, is upholstered in a bright orange leather. Outside, a walnut-stained solid-wood frame curves around the back and sides, and the space within it is filled with woven cane. From the dining room the guest sees color; from the aisle the cane and wood show, which keeps a full room from looking heavy.
The four legs are solid timber, square and slightly tapered, and set at the corners of a wide seat that takes a relaxed sitting position at the table.
Construction
- Solid hardwood frame, walnut stain, mortise-and-tenon joints
- Woven cane outer panels, natural rattan or synthetic cane
- High-resilience foam seat and back
- Orange leather shown; any leather, vinyl or COM
For hotel restaurants that serve breakfast, lunch and dinner, choose a protected leather or contract vinyl on the seat, and synthetic cane, which tolerates daily cleaning better than natural cane. Plan about 24 in (61 cm) of table edge per armchair.
