This sofa is built from rounded blocks rather than a single frame. Each seat module has its own deep, softly squared cushion, and the back is a row of rounded pillows of different widths that sit snugly against one another. The effect is relaxed and informal, which is why it works in hotel lounges aimed at younger guests and in lobby bars.
Two versions are shown. In olive velvet the run is armless, so it can be extended or butted against another module to fill a long wall. In burnt orange velvet, short pillow arms sit on top of the end modules.
How it is made
- Each block is a plywood box with HR foam and a fibre wrap, upholstered individually
- Modules link with concealed brackets so they stay aligned under heavy use
- Low plinth set back from the front so the blocks appear to sit on the floor
- Velvet shown; heavier-weight velvets and chenilles keep the shape best
For lobby use, specify a firmer seat foam than you would at home; deep, low sofas are hard to get out of if the seat is too soft. Modules can be configured as straight runs, corners or open-ended islands.
