Channel tufting gives a sofa a tailored look and stops the seat from sagging into a single hollow over time. In this two-seater the channels run continuously from the top of the back down across the seat to the front edge, so the cover reads as one set of ribs.
The arms are flat-sided track arms with a rounded top edge, level with the back. A slim recessed base keeps the sofa off the floor and makes it look lighter in a dark room.
The photos show it in a mushroom-taupe velvet in a restaurant waiting zone, but it is equally at home in a lobby alcove, a lift lobby on a club floor or the soft corner of a bar.
Construction
- Kiln-dried hardwood and plywood frame, glued and screwed
- Sinuous springs under HR foam, channels filled individually
- Velvet shown; any contract fabric or leather, COM/COL
Channels work best in fabrics with some stretch and a short pile. If you choose a stiff textile or leather, we adjust the channel width on the shop drawing. A three-seat and an armchair version can be drawn from the same profile.
